Week 1
The Sky’s the Limit,  Aeronautical Engineering

Campers dive into aeronautical engineering by designing models of flying technologies that help NASA collect aerial photographs. Children will learn that scientists and engineers often study harsh environments here on Earth (like the largest sand desert in the world, the Empty Quarter) to understand the environments they might encounter in space.

 Week 2

Movie Making:  Become a Director, Film and Audio Engineering

Campers will have a chance to become a movie producer, editor and director.  During the week the children will be creating lipdubs, movie shorts and trailers.

 Week 3
To the Rescue: Engineering Aid Drop Packages Package, Engineering
Campers are asked to engineer aid drop packages that protect what’s inside and are easy to find once they reach the ground.

 Week 4
Coding  Week:  Become a Computer Programmer, Computer Engineering

A week of basic computer programming.  Going beyond the hour of code, from Flappy Bird to creating Computer Art.  Kids will problem solve and think critically to create simple computer programs.

 Week 5
Shake Things Up: Engineering Earthquake Resistant Buildings Earthquake, Engineering

Kids learn about bracing and other ways to support buildings during earthquakes. Kids are asked to engineer earthquake resistant buildings, and create a list of building codes to help others build earthquake resistant structures.

 Week 6

Go Green:Engineering Recycled Racers, Green Engineering

Items that would ordinarily be discarded are collected and used to create toys, sculptures and household objects. In this green engineering unit, kids use recycled materials to construct a toy car that competes in the Recycled Racer Rally.
